The hospital has started to be used within the brain-spine center. There are currently a total of 327 Gamma Knife centers in the world. In Turkey, a total of six centers are served with the participation of gamma knife center in Medical Park Göztepe Hospital Complex.
Navigation
For successful neurosurgery, it is vital that all these technological systems can be used at the same time in the operating room. The use of intraoperative MRI, navigation, ultrasound and Gamma Knife methods in the brain surgery operating room; it helps to make all imaging methods necessary for preoperative, surgery moment and postoperative time quickly and completely.
In this system, the use of images of the patient before surgery during surgery is called navigation. In the navigation system, the anatomical or physiological image obtained in the patient’s MRI (where the speech center is) can be used during surgery. In this method, the patient’s MRI is taken before the surgery and transferred to the navigation device. Thus, during the operation, real-time navigation can see various risky areas in the patient’s brain and plan accordingly.
