The FUE method can be applied to those who do not leave any scars in hair transplantation and the FUT method that can leave a scar on the neck. In the FUE method, hair follicles are taken one by one and transplanted into the missing areas, while in the FUT method, a skin line containing hair is removed from the neck.
People who are candidates for hair transplantation should have healthy hair on the back and sides of their heads to be used as donor areas. Other factors such as hair color, degree of hardness, wavy and bushy affect the result of the intervention.
Following the analysis of our patient’s hair and scalp, which method will be more appropriate, a joint decision is made with our patient, taking into account the priorities of our patient. Although the FUE method, which does not leave any traces, is preferred, it may be necessary to use the FUT method in some cases. Hair transplantation can be applied not only for baldness but also to increase hair density in diluted areas.
The application takes a few hours depending on the amount of hair loss. If the balding area is too large, several sessions may be required to complete the treatment. Generally, the intervention is performed under local anesthesia with sedation (calming).
A special bandage is applied to the head after hair transplantation. The person can be discharged after 1-2 hours. Although it is rare, pain can be controlled with painkillers. Generally, after 3 days of home rest, you can return to business life with the head covered. The first dressing is done on the 5th day.
In practice, the hair follicles taken from the neck are transplanted to the targeted balding area. These hair follicles are called grafts. In rare cases, there is not enough healthy hair on the neck or temple area of the person. In such cases, hair follicles are also taken from other parts of the person that contain hair, such as the arms or chest wall.
